In 1978, Diann Safrit opened Lovin’ Inn Day Care as a small, in-home child care center, which developed a reputation as a high-quality center. It steadily grew and and by 1988, the site was no longer large enough to meet the new demand. In that same year, Diann moved to a new location, the current location.
With the move to North Main also came a new name: South Rowan Academy of Child Development. The name reflected a new and expanded mission. We are much more than just a day care. South Rowan Academy (SRA) is an educational and developmental center. Our goal is to build a foundation that would greatly increase each child’s chances of being a successful student, and eventually, a successful citizen of our society.
We have enjoyed a reputation as one of the finest child care centers in the area. We are a four-star facility that combines the benefits of a daycare and a preschool. A two to five-star rating means the facility has voluntarily met higher program standards and higher staff education levels.
We offer full-time care with quality curriculum and teachers with early childhood credentials. We have expanded classrooms and now have one state-funded NC Pre-K program and three Before/After school programs (two are off site). Diann Safrit is still the owner today!
